VPRA:

Expanding passenger and commuter rail service in the Commonwealth of Virginia

What does VPRA do?

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) manages all administrative and fiduciary responsibilities for Virginia’s state-supported passenger rail services, including the current six daily roundtrip Amtrak Northeast Regional services originating in Roanoke, Norfolk, Newport News, and Richmond. VPRA also provides funding to Virginia Railway Express (VRE). Learn more about our Projects.

Our signature program, Transforming Rail in Virginia, creates a vital connection in America’s national rail network. Through strategic partnerships, investments, and capital improvements, we will double Amtrak service and increase VRE service over the next decade. VPRA administers all capital expansion projects, infrastructure, and land acquisitions related to this $3.7 billion initiative.

We are growing our team, check out current openings!
