Station Information
The Staunton Station is a unstaffed waiting room housed in the former signal house built for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway (C&O) circa 1886. The station platform is accessible and offers a wheelchair and wheelchair lift.
Parking: Same-day and overnight parking is available for a fee.

Staunton, Virginia, nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern attractions. Its walkable downtown, rich cultural scene, and scenic beauty make it an ideal stop along Virginia’s passenger rail network.
Staunton serves as a gateway to the Shenandoah Valley, accessible via Amtrak’s Cardinal line. The historic train depot in downtown Staunton is also the departure point for the Virginia Scenic Railway. Visitors can explore the birthplace and legacy of the 28th U.S. President, featuring exhibits and artifacts from his life and presidency at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum. Or take a stroll through Downtown Staunton which boasts a variety of unique shops and antique stores.
Getting Around
The Downtown Trolley is a fun way to get around Staunton without having to worry about parking or walking up and down the steep streets. It runs in a circle through downtown and starts at the Visitor Center every hour from 10 am to 6 pm (8 pm in the summer). Stops along the way include the city’s historic downtown core, the Wharf Historic District, the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum, and Gypsy Hill Park. On Saturday nights until 9 pm (10 pm in the summer), the trolley goes further afield and stops at Walmart and the Statler Square shopping center. The BRITE Bus North and West loops also take visitors to other parts of the city.
