Temporary Lane Closures on Northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) / Ramp to I-395 North
Dates: On or about July 28 through July 31, 2025
(Washington, DC) — The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA), in coordination with the National Park Service (NPS), will implement periodic lane closures on GWMP and the ramps to/from GWMP to I-395 starting on or about Monday, July 28, through Thursday, July 31, 2025, during off-peak travel hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting. Only one lane is scheduled to be closed at a time in either direction.
The lane closures are necessary for the delivery of equipment to the Long Bridge Project site. The equipment will be used to conduct geotechnical investigations, including soil sampling, to support the design and construction of new bridge foundations.
Motorists should expect intermittent delays and are urged to use caution when traveling through the area. Please follow all posted signage and directions from on-site personnel for the traveling public’s safety and the safety of work crews.
Thank you for your patience as we support the development of this critical infrastructure project.
