Lane Closure on Ohio Dr SW. for Utility Work

Monday, November 17, 2025, to Friday, November 21, 2025

(Washington, DC) — The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA), in coordination with the National Park Service (NPS), will set up a lane closure on the following roadways for utility installation across Ohio Dr SW.  Work is scheduled during daytime hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) starting Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21, 2025. These closure dates and times are contingent on suitable weather, field conditions, and/or adjacent construction activities.

  • Ohio Dr. SW in East Potomac Park – Drivers are advised to use caution and follow posted signs while travel lanes shift during roadway closures on Eastbound Ohio Dr SW within East Potomac Park between East Basin Drive and I-395 Overpass.

Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the work zones. All roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area. These closures are needed for construction activities associated with the Long Bridge Project.

About the Long Bridge Project

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority’s Long Bridge Project is a 1.8-mile rail improvement that will relieve one of the biggest rail bottlenecks on the East Coast. The project will improve reliability and expand capacity for both passenger and freight trains traveling between Virginia and Washington, D.C. The project will create a continuous four-track corridor between the Long Bridge Aquatic Center in Arlington and L’Enfant Plaza in D.C. It includes five new rail bridges and two new pedestrian and bicycle bridges. A new two-track rail bridge will be built over the Potomac River next to the existing Long Bridge, along with a new bike and pedestrian bridge connecting Long Bridge Park in Arlington to East and West Potomac Parks in D.C For more information about the Long Bridge Project and to stay updated on traffic-related impacts and construction progress, please visit www.LongBridgeProject.com.
