Temporary Lane Closures on The George Washington
Memorial Parkway May 28, 2025, to May 30, 2025
(Washington, DC) – The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority
(VPRA), in coordination with the National Park Service (NPS),
will implement lane closures on the following roadways for
pre-construction inspections. Work is scheduled during
daytime off-peak hours starting Wednesday, May 28, 2025,
and extending through Friday, May 30, 2025. These
closure dates and times are contingent on suitable weather,
field conditions, and/or adjacent construction activities.
- George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP)
Single-lane closures will be in place between the I-395
interchange and Gravelly Point Park. Northbound lane
closures are scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30
p.m.; southbound lane closures are scheduled between
10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Vehicular traffic in both directions of the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) and on all interchange ramps with I-395 will be monitored.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide
motorists and pedestrians safely through the work zones. All
roadway users are advised to stay alert and be observant of
signage and work zones while traveling in this area. These
closures are needed for construction activities associated with
the Long Bridge Project in Washington DC.
