VPRA, in collaboration with CSXT, has designed new rail bridges to span King Street and Commonwealth Avenue near Alexandria Station. These replacements will be constructed by Virginia Railway Express (VRE) as part of their Alexandria Station Improvements Project.  Replacing the rail bridges will reduce maintenance and minimize rail service interruptions while modernizing the bridges to current bridge standards. It will also improve safety for pedestrians and motorists under the bridges. This project is within the limits of VPRA’s Alexandria Fourth Track project.
