Real Estate

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) owns railroad corridors throughout Virginia and in portions of Washington, D.C., and North Carolina. Ownership of this railroad right-of-way is intended to further VPRA’s mission to promote, sustain, and expand the availability of passenger and commuter rail service in the Commonwealth.

VPRA recognizes that citizens and communities have an ongoing interest in the active and abandoned railroad right of way across the Commonwealth. The resources on this page provide information about VPRA’s legal restrictions and obligations related to trail and recreational use, utility, access, and work and maintenance requests on VPRA-own rail assets.

Visit the Trails page for information about recreational use on VPRA-owned rail corridors, or complete the form below to connect with the Real Estate team.
