VPRA would like to apologize to customers for a recent rash of train cancellations causing disruption of our service and inconveniencing hundreds of passengers. Providing safe and reliable rail service is always our goal, and we have fallen short in the endeavor recently.
As Amtrak rebounds from the pandemic, staffing shortages continue to be a challenge resulting in last-minute cancellations. We rely on Amtrak to provide the crews to operate our trains, and when those crews are not available, the reliability of our service suffers. Read More…
Long Distance Service Disruption due to Sub-Tropical Storm Nicole
Amtrak has canceled long-distance (LD) service to Florida due to the expected impact of sub-tropical storm Nicole between Nov 8 to Nov 11. The Silver Star (91 & 92), Silver Meteor (97 & 98), and Auto Train (52 & 53) services will be affected due to these cancellations. Amtrak is keeping an eye on the storm’s path for potential impact on Virginia service.
