Neabsco Creek to Woodbridge Third Track will add approximately 3 miles of third track or “siding” in Prince William County from south of Dawson Beach Road to north of Neabsco Creek, and will include the construction of new, two-track railroad bridges. The project also will include modifications to the at-grade crossing at Featherstone Road and the existing Featherstone interlocking to accommodate the third track. The Neabsco Creek to Woodbridge Third Track will increase the efficiency of passenger and freight trains throughout the rail network and will target the area south of Rippon station.

Neabsco Creek to Woodbridge Third Track (Siding D) will add approximately 3 miles of third track in Prince William County from south of Dawson Beach Road to north of Neabsco Creek, and will include the construction of new, two-track railroad bridges.

The Neabsco Creek to Woodbridge Third Track will increase network fluidity and reduce delays due to passenger and freight train congestion throughout the rail network and will target the area near Rippon station.Â

Transforming Rail in Virginia’s program of projects is advancing recommendations from the Washington, DC to Richmond Southeast High-Speed Rail (DC2RVA) study. The rail corridor between DC and Richmond is part of a larger nationwide higher-speed intercity passenger rail network identified by USDOT and the states of VA and NC. Completed in 2019, DC2RVA is an environmental document with preliminary rail design that fulfills the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
