I-95 Corridor Projects
I-95 Corridor Capital Projects are divided into four phases based on the anticipated timing of completion and commencement of services. Projects planned in Phases 1 and 2 will be completed by 2030, providing for the separation of freight and passenger operations which will allow for better fluidity throughout the corridor.
Phase 1
Phase 1 includes the construction of projects totaling 23 miles of new track, which will allow for two additional Amtrak round trips along the I-95 Corridor, three additional round trips on VRE’s Fredericksburg Line, and the initiation of VRE weekend service.
Phase 2
Phase 2 includes the construction of projects totaling 14 miles of new track, including the New Long Bridge. Completion of Phase 2 projects will allow for three additional Amtrak round trips along the I-95 Corridor and two additional round trips on VRE’s Fredericksburg Line.
